Politicians: Public Servants, Not Celebrities
The central theme of this podcast episode revolves around the imperative need to recalibrate our perception of politicians, emphasizing that they are not to be venerated as celebrities, but rather regarded as public servants beholden to the electorate. We assert that the fundamental relationship between the public and their elected officials must be rooted in accountability, rather than adulation. It is crucial to recognize that these individuals are entrusted with the responsibility of representing our interests, and we, the constituents, are entitled to demand transparency and diligence in their service. As such, we advocate for an active civic engagement, urging listeners to scrutinize their representatives' actions and hold them to the standards expected of their roles. Consequently, this episode serves as a clarion call to recalibrate our expectations and responsibilities in the democratic process, fostering a more informed and engaged citizenry.
Takeaways:
- Politicians are fundamentally public servants, and we, the citizens, are their employers.
- In our political landscape, it is crucial to hold elected officials accountable for their actions and promises.
- The perception of politicians as celebrities detracts from their responsibilities to serve the public effectively.
- Citizens should actively engage with their representatives, demanding transparency and accountability in governance.

Here's your political reality check of the day. Politicians are not celebrities. They're not rock stars, royalty, or the second coming of anything. They're public servants. And we're the public.
We don't work for them. They. They work for us. This isn't Hollywood. It's your hometown. And the schools are broken. But let's be honest, we've got a problem.
Somewhere along the way, we started treating politicians like they're on tour. Oh my God. I saw my representative at brunch. Cool. Did he vote for the billion dollar pork fat sandwich last week?
eigning over mayors like it's:He's or she's a bureaucrat with a bad wi fi connection and questionable ethics. And don't get me started on social media. One viral post and suddenly a politician thinks they're a Kennedy bro.
You couldn't even pass simple medical freedom legislation. Calm down. They're not influencers. They're not lifestyle brands. They're not here for our inspiration.
They're here for your instructions, your orders, your demands. And if they're not listening, fire them. This isn't America's Got Talent. There's no golden buzzer, just a ballot box. So here's your new mindset.
Don't ask for a selfie. Ask why your roads still look like Swiss cheese. Don't repost their campaign ad. Post the link to their voting record. Don't like their speech?
Fact check it. If your elected representative ghosted your calls but made it to five fundraisers last week, congratulations.
You've got a glorified prom queen or king, not a representative. So let's stop treating them like celebrities and start treating them like what they are. Overpaid temp workers with fancy nameplates.
Hold the applause. Hold hero worship. Hold them accountable. Because at the end of the day, they work for us. And if they forget that, remind them.
Loudly, publicly, and with voter receipts. And if all else fails, there's always unemployment. For them.
